About ‘Ammu’
Born in a North Indian Sikh family and raised in the enchanting North East of India, food adventurer and winner of the best Lady Chef Award for 2015-16 Amninder Sandhu has a creative mind and an uncanny knack for extracting serious flavour. Her work with Taj Hotels and extensive resume is proof of her vast qualifications and entrepreneurial spirit.
Her exciting new venture, “Ammu” (as she is lovingly called by friends and family) brings forth an exquisite dining experience that elevates Indian Cuisine beyond the generic. Taking advantage of the takeout/delivery model that most restaurants have relied upon due to the pandemic, Ammu seeks to set itself as a household name by bringing nostalgic and comforting Indian food. Their menu is filled with an array of heartwarming and mouth-watering dishes, aimed at transporting the customer across the country.
Currently operating in Pune, Ammu is also set to open its doors to diners in Mumbai in mid October.
Review
As someone who is not the biggest fan of Indian cuisine, I was happily taken aback by my experience with Ammu. Having experienced Chef Amninder Sandhu’s brilliant culinary skills in the past, I gave her menu a chance – and I’m so glad I did!
Quirky packaging, flawless delivery and a delicious menu had me change my outlook on Indian Food altogether. I was reminded of the Chef’s signature slow cooking techniques and her ingenuity with organic ingredients through Ammu. The food ranges from dishes she learnt during her time at Taj, to one’s that caught her attention as she travelled extensively around the world to expand her knowledge and skill.

Indian Food is incomplete without bread! I went for the deliciously flaky Lachha Paratha and Butter Naan to round off this feast.
Ammu’s cloud kitchen truly does deliver on its motto, “Let’s Taste Happiness”.
