That’s what people tell you. Sure, that’s the truth, because we blossom just as trees bloom. But what trees do differently is simply remarkable – they lean into approaching seasons submitting themselves to the vagaries of nature. But what we humans do is we fight it with our – ‘busyness’. We crowd our lives with people, things, events, and block our consciousness. And what results is that life passes us by.
And when we remain unsatiated and lonely and wonder why? We have to remind ourselves that booking our days from morning to night, not catching up with our cherished friends, investing in the wonders of nature etc, play a big part in creating this void. Living disconnected lives, having dysfunctional relationships, we just don’t realize how many more years we are allotted or how long we are going to remain walking on this earth. We just move facelessly about our business, thinking only we are important. We have to reach out more, walk the streets, talk to strangers, lend a kind word, travel a little, definitely get to know life beyond our home and careers.
Divine inspiration. What’s that? many of us exclaim. It’s simply being spiritually aware. Believe it or not- it’s the real intellectual currency. Prayer has to be a part of everyday life. Do it in any way that you know how. Reach out to the universe. Writers pray for plotlines, composers for their melody, artists for their brush lines to flow forward. Did we not witness masterpieces as their beautiful results? Every endeavor needs a prayer. And that’s how our lives go in unexpected directions.
Nothing is really in our control. We often say – If Wishes were horses…
In actuality wishes are potent. By articulating our thoughts, we move the Universe to act, we subconsciously grid out what we need. Listening to our voices within, we succeed in making our unconscious conscious. When we roll with the punches, we activate our creativity and our lives take a turn. At that point we learn to focus more and more on our new ‘finds’. Being flexible to all the alternative solutions helps us along. Things that happen when we are not looking for become our silver lining. What we are not aware of is that when we are willing to be open minded, art and beauty come to us in a million ways. All we have to do is see the possibilities and not feel the improbabilities. Being resilient is the key.
But how does one really keep the enthusiasm up? So much of it is related in us dealing with the ‘now’. Like children who are intrigued by anything and everything, like the mere sight of a butterfly, a colorful floating leaf, a bright sunny sky, or just a beetle hurtling along. Everybody knows that we are all born – ‘children’, but the art is in remaining a child. Here I quote Henry Miller- ‘Develop interest in life as you see it, in people, things, literature, music- the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasure, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself…’
Do you agree that we live in an interactive universe, that we are constantly being talked to, and responded to all of the time. We think we have no time to call an old friend, no time for a walk, or take a luxurious bubble bath even. Our meals are quick fixes, what then do we attribute our valuable time to? Do we realize that ‘genius’ is often coupled with plain ordinary work. But most of us feel that if we had an emptier life and more money, we could get more work done. Not so true as that life that would be emptier would attract more distractions and in reality, we can do everything that we desire with our lives as of now.
The art of living as we know it can be just living in the ‘now’, being alert to the choices of the moment. In using our time well, we can do everything that we desire but with an – ‘Easy does it’ – attitude.
