Amit Jambotkar and Dharmesh Karmokar have created a brand that is synonymous with South Indian food and now have three outlets spread across the city. A South Indian restaurant serving food from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
About
Thangabali features a predominantly teal colour scheme, interesting decor with wooden carvings, traditional motifs and temple bells. An authentic experience for those who wish to reminisce about their hometowns down south.
The restaurant even has a beautiful floor to ceiling hand painted mural of a Kathakali dancer. From its furniture and tableware (featuring a copper ‘kalash’) to its traditional wall hangings, Thangabali rightfully captures an ambience that reminds me of home.
Review
The menu at Thangabali is diverse, detailed and a South Indian’s dream come true. It is one of the rare south Indian restaurants in the city that offers a good mix of non-vegetarian fare, breaking the notion that this cuisine is primarily meant for the vegetarians. Joining a growing list of restaurants that cater to those who value ambience and authenticity, Thangabali is a wonderful representation of what South Indian food has to offer.
